Two Pakistani nationals associated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba have been caught while trying to enter Kashmir, top security officers said on Wednesday.
“Pakistan is desperate for terrorists to infiltrate...to disrupt peace in the Valley,” General Officer Commanding (GoC) of the Army’s 15 Corps Lt General KJS Dhillon said at a joint briefing with Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Munir Khan.
He said the two Pakistani nationals associated with the LeT were apprehended on August 21.
The infiltrators have been named as Khalil Ahmad Kayan (35) and Mohammad Nazeem (22), both residents of Rawalpindi, Punjab, Pakistan.
They were apprehended along the Line of Control by Indian troops. During field level questioning, they revealed their plans for sensational attacks in India to disrupt peace and harmony.
They also gave account of full complicity of Pak Army in helping and guiding terrorists in infiltration from launch pads. The two will now be sent for detailed questioning, interrogation and investigation to the agency concerned.
The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
